Whistler Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Whistler (Squamish language: Sḵwiḵw) is a resort municipality in the southern Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains in the province of British Columbia, Canada, approximately 125 km (78 mi) north of Vancouver and 36 km (22 mi) south of the town of Pemberton.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says"The people you work with on a day to day basis are normally great. Lack of experienced middle management leads to a lot of power trips and a lack of support. Upper management has been there so long they are clueless and unwilling to change. Do yourself a favor and apply to a different company. Cons: Terrible management and lack of culture that the company promotes"
General Sales Agent (Former Employee) says"2 weeks after training I found out that they scam customers, either due to neglect or company policies. If you actually care about customer service do not work here. If you want to be a mindless drone that redirects phone calls all day then this is a good job for you."
Ticket Sales (Former Employee) says"People working skilled jobs and long-term employees never get a raise. You can work here 10 years and make the same pay. You can work a skilled job and make a quarter more than a greeter who stands around all day. Cons: Rentals aren't free, over worked, under paid, no communication, managers are petty and make up rules, company doesn't take COVID seriously"
Food Service Prep (Former Employee) says"This company is an insult to anyone I feel sorry for when COVIT is over for people who would have to go back to this job... I would never fly to go work for this company again... Cons: Pay not worth it"
Store Manager (Current Employee) says"Poor leadership, poor business plan and poorly paid employees. BAIL ON VAIL! Until they take care of frontline workers, this company will never be a “leader” in guest service."
Accountant (Former Employee) says"This place is a nightmare. Extremely low pay, long hours and nonexistent/ garbage technology. Management is a bunch of spineless blowhard idiots that preach leadership despite having no clue how to inspire people or develop a coherent strategy."
Front Desk Host (Former Employee) says"No opportunity for advancement, managers that don't see your potential or promote from within. Only good thing is PTO. Almost never enough employees working here at any given time so it's always understaffed. Cons: Difficult to get in touch with H.R., almost no opportunity for advancement, almost never enough employees working here at any given time"
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says"I only worked there for a week, but that was enough. My onboarding process took months because they kept pushing back my start date and never told me that my background check didn’t go through. I had to call the background check company myself. It was ridiculous. The training itself was extremely unorganized and all over the place. They would give us a schedule and then completely change it last minute so you couldn’t plan anything. They made the job seem really cool with all the benefits and discounts but it’s just to cover up how awful the company is. Also, the recruiter that initially interviewed me told me that there would be no forced overtime and a rotating schedule. Lies! The very first weekend I’d be working was forced overtime making me work 8 days in a row. Then, the work schedule I was given was fixed for months. What about that says rotating schedule? They lied and manipulated me to get me to sign on to the company and then shower you with free coffee and Helly Hansen discounts to try to get you to stay. No thanks! I’ll work for a company that actually cares about good practices and their employees. Cons: Bad management, stressful environment, lies"
Sales Consultant - Full Time (Former Employee) says"Low wages no management only worked there for the ski pass and that sucked too long....……zvhjjvvfhbbhhghhhhhhfghhdsdghjhhhnbhhhhhhbbbbbhnjjjjjjhuujjbbhh"
Photographer - EpicMix (Former Employee) says"You may be tempted by the beauty of Vail Mountain and the perceived ability to ski a lot but I promise you that you will HATE your life. You get paid like s&!t (so bad that you live below the poverty line and qualify for food stamps), and treated like your a worthless replaceable cog in the wheel. If you're at all intelligent, you will immediately start to see how things might be done in a better way but when you make ANY sort of suggestions to your manager or the higher ups they will all be dismissed, because improving work life for employees and even customer experience is not their concern. My manager in the EpicMix department was a pathologically liar who would tell you things to your face, on a daily basis, that he knew to be false and that seems to be exactly the type of person Vail Resorts wants to employee at the manager and higher up levels. At the end of the day, Vail Resorts only cares about one thing, and that's certainly not the employees, it's making more money for the corporation to line the pockets of the executives. Vail Resorts takes all the worst parts of working for a large corporation and applies to every resort the purchase. I implore you, STAY AWAY!!!!"
Director of Marketing (Former Employee) says"I had high expectations joining VR. I had heard some mixed reviews heading in, but was hoping the company had turned a corner. Unfortunately, I found the company to still be struggling for all the reasons that I had read/heard about."
Employee Housing Supervisor (Former Employee) says"The workplace is typical of seasonal resort employment in being mismanaged by "high school mean girls" that consider you the "fat girl". Lots of gossiping, rumor mongering and childish retaliation from supervisors and managers. My boss and her self promoted assistant would spend hours in the office wallowing in drama and gossip about everything and everyone. The lack of management skills from the managers means priorities are being set (or not) by inexperienced people trying to create an instant career. Safety was more of an inconvenience than a culture. I never felt safe from the drunken childish environment forcing me to leave the dorms on my days off for the safety of a hotel room. When security problems with several drunken hostile employees were brought to the attention of my supervisor, she painted the office. When I called security about the incident, I got their voice mail and NO follow up. These things don't happen in normal employment I know, I was just disappointed because I guess I had bigger expectation for Vail, it was an Epic Fail for Vail."
Busser (Former Employee) says"job sucked horrible hours and horrible pay people i worked with were so rude and the managers should not be aloud to work there one of them stared and tried getting with the younger girls everyday. Cons: didnt snowboard"
Sales Team Leader (Former Employee) says"Screw Vail resorts. They pay their employees horribly and treat them like garbage too. Their housing is disgusting and shockingly over priced. The ski pass is fine. But other than that you get nothing from them. Screw Vail."
Photographer (Former Employee) says"The workplace is dangerous, management does not care about the employees. The company only cares if they are taking in lots of money and employees are paid less than a living wage for a resort area."
Ski Instructor (Current Employee) says"Whitetail has some wonderful people working in their staff, but most of the supervisors and bosses have no clue how to do their job and treat all of the employees horribly. On top of that, the resort messes up every paycheck, ”forgetting” as many as 20 hours of pay. This resort is run by greedy a-holes who don’t care about their employees, only about making money. DO NOT COME HERE TO WORK"
Product Sales and Services Supervisor (Former Employee) says"Vail Resorts is a place to go to if you never want to be successful in life. Senior management does not support its leadership team and they make sure to make you feel like you are worthless, giving no holiday pay, while the big people in the coroporation are making away like bandits. This is not a ski company, this is a sales company, and there culture represents that."
Rental Technician (Former Employee) says"I would suggest you avoid working for Vail Resorts along with Vail Sports at The Ritz Carlton because both the company and the management team who I worked for was terrible. The management team would openly discriminate against me for having a disability and I was the only girl amongst boys and the guys were sexist and made sexist jokes in front of me and they openly mocked me every day for every move I made. I was laughed at for how I spoke. They pointed out how excited I would get about going home when that is just how I am and they made fun of me for I am. I thought that was really strange and that shouldn't be how a management team acts. Cons: Management"
Store Manager (Former Employee) says"Your manager will treat you like a 1st grader. Managers here train by scolding, and write ups. Very negative work atmosphere. Employees vs. other employees. Cons: Too many to list"
Accountant (Former Employee) says"You'll get paid minimum wage for accounting work. If you get a raise it will be fifty cents... Seriously, continue to look for other jobs and dont let a free ski pass sway your decision."
